March Madness: The Biggest Big

$195.00

Ranking the Bigs.

The Bigs go toe-to-toe to see who really has the numbers to back up the name; our own version of March Madness.

Yes, this regional bracket measures the heft of rappers using the term “Big” in their names. However, their largess is not measured in physical weight, but in financial gain.

Using sales and streaming data from RIAA, ChartMasters, YouTube and The Interwebs at large, we found that what we suspected was true: Biggie Smalls is the biggest. (Honorable mention goes to Big Pun for being physically the biggest, weighing in at 700 pounds.)

Artwork text:

In the quest for glory in the world of hip-hop, the “Big” appliqué is used to shape and define some of the largest rappers. Not only referencing their physical dimensions, “Big” often speaks to aspirations for their record-sales girth. With that in mind, we set out to regionalize and score rappers who have “Big” in their name, with an eye to a definitive determination of which “Big” is really the biggest according to record sales and streams. Herewith, the bracket and the results.

The original artwork is printed on archival, acid-free Kodak Endura Premier paper (210 gsm) in a low glare satin finish using archival, pigment based inks.

Framed for your viewing pleasure, this work features a scratch-resistant acrylic insert and comes ready to hang.
